Outdoor Learning Space

The Dormann Library’s Outdoor Learning Space is growing into something truly special—a place where nature, learning, and community come together.

Right now, the centerpiece of the space is The Robert & Edith Saxton Memorial Pavilion, made possible through generous support from the Community Foundation and the Village of Bath Street Department, who provided the concrete pad for the structure. This beautiful pavilion will serve as the hub for outdoor programs, events, and everyday exploration.

But we’re just getting started.

Plans for the Outdoor Learning Space include winding trails, vibrant gardens, a calming water feature, cozy reading and relaxing nooks, a mud kitchen for sensory play, and more. Each element is designed to spark curiosity and provide new ways for our community to learn and connect in the great outdoors.

This summer, we’re adding a fence around the entire space to ensure safety and provide a defined area for exploration. We’ll also begin installing underground infrastructure and sidewalks to support future features and improve accessibility.
Join Us in Growing the Space

We’re kicking off a community fundraiser on Saturday, May 3, in conjunction with the pavilion’s ribbon cutting ceremony. You can be part of this exciting transformation by sponsoring a portion of the space.
Donation levels include:

  • $250 – Bronze recognition
  • $500 – Silver recognition
  • $1,000 – Gold recognition
Supporters will be honored with their name displayed in bronze, silver, or gold lettering on a prominent sign along the fence surrounding the Outdoor Learning Space.

Together, we can create something beautiful and lasting for generations to come.
